Dragons – supporting families at our school with before and after school care and holiday clubs.

Dragons is the before and after school club here at Balsall Common. This provision is popular with our community for a number of reasons. Firstly, we support working families who need high quality, wrap around care. This means that children can be looked after from 07:30 until 18:00 each day if needed. Our flexible pricing means that you can pay for the time you use, or additional breakfast, if that will help. We are here to make sure that children are well cared for up to the time school starts and then again at the end of the day if needed.

The quality of what we provide is also a major reason that so many families choose to use us! With a range of exciting activities to choose from, and with staff who know the children so well, the care we provide is second to none. Children will have the opportunity to develop socially, physically, emotionally and academically while they are with us.

For our reception age children we recommend that you use Pathways for out of school hours car, unless your child has an older sibling in school. We are delighted that Pathways provide good quality care on our site and have enjoyed a long-standing, good relationship with them.

If you want to find out more about what we can provide, how to book a place or have any further questions please email us at: dragons@balsall-common.solihull.sch.uk

During the school holidays, we are very lucky to have access to all of schools facilities including the swimming pool, ICT suite, adventure playground, the field and playground.

Staff are trained to National Life Saving Qualification in order that we can offer swimming daily. Arts and crafts and cooking is also available daily during the holidays. Children are also welcome to bring in their bikes or scooters, together with a helmet.

An in depth activity planner is available to view on the school’s Facebook page and gets sent out to parents via email a few weeks before each half term.

We offer a healthy snack during the morning and afternoon session and fruit is available all through the day.

Children are required to bring in a packed lunch. If your child is staying past 16:30 they are also welcome to bring in a packed tea.
