For over 190 years, since the roots of the Co-op Society were first laid, your local Balsall Common Co-operative food have taken great pride in offering customers a wide range of quality products and services.

Due to the pressures of the discounted supermarkets moving in to the area, we had to look at what we could do to stand the test of time and as a result have invested £1.2m refurbishing our Balsall Common store for the benefit of our members, customers, colleagues and indeed the very supportive local community.

Food Ethics and Sustainability

We have extended the stores’ range of chilled and fresh foods, and there is a packaging-free zone, allowing customers to shop little and often and to fill their own containers with items such as cereals and nuts.

   Bewitched Café

Welcome to your new dog friendly café in the heart of our community….

Our Balsall Common store is the first to host a Bewiched coffee shop franchise as well as a Bewiched express machine within our food store. Our relationship with Bewiched is a strong one and our values very closely align as a local based business.

Our newly refurbished store introduces many new concepts including our Deli. Co food to go area, offering hot and cold food and beverages for those on the move. We’ve also introduced our Big Night In area which gives you everything you need for the perfect night in. There is an extensive range of local suppliers. The store also features an indoor seating area with free customer wi-fi and wireless charging.

Our school involvement  

Being in the Heart of our community, we are proud to team up with our local Primary school and will support the children with resources for the Science and DT topics (Healthy Eating) and share knowledge about Fairtrade, the environment. We are also proud to be supporting school’s Breakfast Club with resources.
