School Council

Our School Council plays an important role in helping to shape school life and ensuring that pupil voice is heard. The School Council is made up of representatives from Years 3 to 6 who are elected by their classmates to represent their ideas, views and suggestions.

Throughout the year, our School Councillors meet regularly to discuss ways to improve our school, share ideas from their classes and work together on projects that make a positive difference to our school community. They help to organise events, support charitable initiatives, promote pupil wellbeing and develop their leadership skills.

Some of their most notable projects including reducing food waste across the school, implementing a new PE uniform and introducing 'buddy benches' in all playgrounds.  They have also run their own stalls at the School Fayres, raising money for the school in creative ways, and raised money for Macmillan Cancer charity, alongside other charities.

As part of their role, our School Councillors also have opportunities to learn about democracy and leadership beyond the classroom. One of the highlights of the year was an unforgettable visit to Westminster and Number 10 Downing Street.

During the visit, the children explored the Houses of Parliament, stepped inside the House of Lords and learned about how our country is governed. They also have had the opportunity to meet our local Member of Parliament, Cllr Saqib Bhatti MP, who answered their thoughtful questions about leadership, decision-making and the role of an MP.

The day concluded with a special visit to Number 10 Downing Street, where the children stood outside the famous black door and experienced first-hand the importance of democracy and public service.

This memorable experience inspired our School Councillors and reinforced the importance of leadership, representation and making a positive contribution to their community. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our School Councillors and look forward to seeing the difference they continue to make within our school.
